codeworks started out as a web design company under the name of "KRSDesigns" in the back bedroom of Kevin Steerment 6 years ago (2005).
After only a few months of trading we noticed there didn't seem to be anything unique about running a website design company surrounded by 100 other design companies all offering the same service at the same price so we went back to the drawing board to see what could be done. During which time Kevin studied Computer Science at Bridgwater College. After college Kevin joined a software company to fill some time, he soon worked his way up the ranks until he became the right hand man to the Director.
Six months passed, then an opportunity to relocate to Cardiff came up, with the experience and confidence Kevin had gained from College and from working for another company he decided it was time to start again with a new company and a new focus; codeworks would not be what it is today without the experienced gained from working in that other software company.
Three years have passed and the story continues as codeworks continues to grow and make a positive impact on the businesses in and around the surrounding area of Cardiff...
We've spent years developing products which we created for ourselves, which then our customers asked if they could buy, that's how our product selection came about.
codeworks accounting was a system we created for ourselves to help keep on top of invoicing and chasing. We're great at creating software, just not so great at creating invoices and chasing payment, so it occurred to us why not create some software that did that for us. It's a system that's brought in tens of thousands of pounds over the past few years which some of customers have loved so much they bought it off us!
Our best selling product is yourcms; with over 300 end users the chances are you've probably visited a website that runs our software in the background. We spotted a gap in the market with this where we found graphic design and similar companies wanted to offer websites as a product but had no idea how to develop the websites beyond a pretty picture. That's where the idea came up with a solution to design a system that's both extremely user friendly at editing websites and easy enough for these companies to sell as their own white labelled system.
If there's one thing we've learnt over the past three years it's that you can't be the best in everything, and you can't claim to offer anything. That's why we've built good solid relationships with some of the best in our area.
